EZWeb 1.2 downloads going strong – feedback is appreciated – level 000

Previously, I posted about the exciting release of EZWeb 1.2.  This is my personal project that I’ve been working on for 2 years now.  Many, many of you have downloaded it.  I’d like to get some feedback.  How many actually got it running (which should be super easy), and what did you think?

Please provide feedback either through a comment on this post, or through the contact form on my blog.

I do have plans to release a .Net 2.0 version (in fact I’ve already started).  If you have a super suggestion, please give it to me, and it may make the 2.0 release.  I will continue to improve usability as well as the programmer extension API.  I’ll have to get some programmer documentation together for the 2.0 release.

  1. Hi Jeffrey,
I’ve downloaded it yesterday and I liked it for it’s semplicity.
The only thing that I would like to see is a WYSIWYG HTML editor…

Apart that it has all the functionalities that I need…

See you perhaps at the next Tech Ed!!!
    Bye!

  2. Lorenzo,
Thanks. It has a WYSIWYG Html editor. When you log in with the “admin” account to start, there is a link “Edit Content”. Click there, and you will see a FreeTextBox instance. This is the “Content Editor” plugin that also allows file and image uploaders.

  3. Hi Jeffrey,
I’ve downloaded your project but at the moment I’ve not tested it (too busy in these days, maybe during the weekend).
A little suggestion (or request): why don’t you launch a test site for a real demo? I think it could be useful for everyone that want to try the tool.
Keep up the great work, when I’ll test it you’ll receive my (eventual) requests.
    Bye!

  4. Do you have live demo anywhere?

  5. I don’t have a live demo yet, but that’s on my list of things to do. I plan to put up a sandbox with a public account where people can actually change the site.

    Hi Jeff,

Easy install – thanks. I was looking for alternatives for a wiki and thought I would take a look. Very interesting. More documentation, both for the end-user and programmer would be useful. BTW, I noticed that when I used the Clean template, I lost the useful side menu.

    Thanks for sharing,

    Simon

P.S. I ran into a bug when I tried to edit a new page:

  7. Thanks, Simon. You are correct with that bug while using FreeTextBox. I’ve fixed this with a confuration change, and I’ll make another release that is a bit different in its deployment scenario. I’m also getting a sandbox website set up.
