Test-driven development panel at Innotech – level 000

At the Innotech conference, there was a TDD panel with Mary Poppendieck and 4 members of the local developer community (2 of them are my coworkers).  Mary clarified that TDD is as old as software development itself.  She relates that when she was coding assembly, she would create a testing framework to simulate the device she was writing for before she wrote any code.  Then, every bit of code was written with automated tests.  Here is a picture of the panel.  From left to right there is Scott Bellware, Jeremy Miller, Jeff Smith, Bret Pettichord, and Mary Poppendieck.

Wasn’t Office Space set in Austin? And there’s no relation to the Innotech company? I don’t believe it!

It’s definitely a poor choice of name. “Innotech” v. “Innitech”

Office Space was filmed around the neighborhood of a previous employer of mine that was pure Dilbert fodder. Coincidence? — I think not.

The next Innotech conference should use a red stapler as the conference logo.

  4. In Office Space, the company is actually Initech, and after the building burnes, Michael and the other guy go to work for Initrode.

Actually, many of the scenes in the movie “Office Space” were filmed in and around the DFW area. Las Colinas was the back drop for the seen when Peter, Samir and Michael are walking back from their coffee break at Chotchkie’s. The buildings seen behind them in this scene are along Hwy 114 looking east/north east. Also, the opening scene of the movie is filmed just west of the I-635 and Dallas North Tollway interchange, looking east.
